F-15 Eagle

More than 4 decades ago a new fighter plane was introduced by the United States Air Force to the world. It was a twin engine all weather tactical aircraft designed by McDonnell Douglas dedicated as an air superiority aircraft which is tasked to do one thing alone, be superior. This plane is the F-15 Eagle.

The F-15 is a two seater all weather, highly maneuverable tactical fighter aircraft used by the United States Air Force and is the primary fighter jet and intercept platform since the 70's. The plane's high success is attributed to its maneuverability and acceleration, range, weapons and avionics.

It's great maneuverability is the result of high engine thrust-to-weight ratio and low wing loading. And with a gross weight of 44,500 lb (20,185 kg) the F-15 can fly at 1,875 mph (Mach 2) thanks to those 2  Pratt & Whitney F100-PW-220 afterburning turbofans with a range of 3,450 miles. Her avionics are a head-up display, advanced radar, inertial navigation system, flight instruments, ultrahigh frequency communications, tactical navigation system and instrument landing system, an internally mounted tactical electronic-warfare system, "identification friend or foe" system, electronic countermeasures set and a central digital computer.

For its armaments, it is equipped with an internally mounted M-61A1 20-mm, six-barrel cannon loaded with 940 rounds of ammunition and can be armed with 4x AIM-9 Sidewinder; 4x AIM-120 AMRAAMs; 8x AIM-120 AMRAAM or any combination defending on the mission.

Currently the F-15 is in service with the United States, Japan, Israel, South Korea, Saudi Arabia, Singapore and Qatar. And with an air-to-air kill ratio of 104 to 0, it is truly an air superior.
